Algebra Readiness Test

No one likes over-testing, so this Algebra Readiness/Pre-Test is a quick diagnostic tool for pre-algebra skills. The format is Word 2007/2010, using the equation tool for easy editing of headers, instructions, and the mathematical expressions. A PDF copy is also included for quick-and-easy printing. Cartesian plane graphics are crisp even after multiple photocopy/rescan operations. Test length is 2 pages (or 1 page front and back) with room to show work. Answer key included.
The best use of this test is not to achieve a cutoff score, but rather pinpointing specific topics to review and offer extra practice. For example, Question 1 might tell you if a student is making lots of sign errors and needs immediate practice with negative numbers in basic operations, while Question 4 might tell you if they will need more practice with percents when they come up during Algebra. For lower-performing students, I would be most concerned about correcting issues shown by Questions 1, 3, 6, and 9. For higher-performing students, I would take a closer look at their completeness and clarity compared to my answer key, including showing ALL of their work neatly and labeling & boxing their final answers.

In high school geometry we start to get to the minute details of circle concepts, and to do so we need the proper vocabulary to discuss parts of the circle. This lesson includes notes, worksheet, interactive online activity, and a quiz. Answer keys are provided, and the following vocabulary is included:
Center, Radius, Diameter, Chord, Secant Line, Tangent Line, Point of Tangency, Minor Arc, Major Arc, Semi-Circle, Tangent Line Theorem
The notes, worksheet, and quiz also include arithmetic- and algebra-based practice at measuring arc lengths in degrees, as well as verifying tangency using Pythagorean Theorem.
